It's definitely a step in the right direction to recognise that black is beautiful and that dark is merely a skin tone.
A giant leap will be when people recognise that celebration of physical
beauty itself is in some way discriminatory in the same way as
preoccupation with skin tone is.
In fact, the only things that
should be applauded and celebrated are human qualities that lead to
actions adding value to the world: compassion, kindness, perseverance,
determination, hardwork, discipline.
Everything else is so-called God's gift, even mental abilities like
intelligence, creativity, artistic talents. All these go only as far as
hardwork and discipline take them, and do only as much as good as
compassion and kindness permit them to.
